The mission of USPHS Commissioned Corps is “to protect, promote, and advance the health and safety of our Nation.” Through the Commissioned Corps, participants become part of an elite and diverse team of professionals essential to public health leadership in the U.S. This is your chance to learn from two active duty Commissioned Corps officers about their own experiences, the benefits of the program, and how to navigate through the selection and placement process.

Brenda Nickol, MPH, Director of Career Services, University of Nebraska Medical Center

Brenda Nickol has been the Director of Career Services at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s College of Public Health for almost 10yrs. Prior to joining the world of academic public health, Brenda worked in public health practice for 14yrs, at the local, state, federal and international levels. Brenda has an MPH in Global Health from Emory University, and was in the CDC’s Public Health Prevention Service.
