In one sentence, what is public health to you?
Public health is to improve the health and wellness of people through scientific research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and various programs and services.
What inspired you to study public health?
Wealthy data are collected in public health problems. Utilizing data and models to uncover the pattern behind public health problems is very important. Biostatistics is just such a data-driven major. I hope to use the knowledge of Biostatistics to solve public health issues.
What has been the single most rewarding experience of your career/studies so far?
Focus the research on Electronic Health Record(EHR) analysis. A lot of information is embedded in EHR. We can take advantage of our expertise in data analysis and modeling to help doctors treat the patients. It is very promising and meaningful.
Learn one programming language well. It can be helpful for your study and career development.
What do you think is the biggest challenge that the public health field should be focusing on?
People’s understanding and awareness of public health is not enough. How to make people and governments treat public health crises more seriously is a challenge now.
