We are thrilled to introduce Nikole Hannah-Jones, Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for The New York Times Magazine and creator of the 1619 Project, as a plenary speaker for the Annual Meeting on March 22-24. She has spent her career investigating racial inequality and injustice, and her reporting has earned her numerous prestigious awards and accolades, including the MacArthur Fellowship, a Peabody Award, and the John Chancellor Award for Distinguished Journalism. She was named Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists and the Newswomen’s Club of New York. She also serves as the Knight Chair of Race and Journalism at Howard University, where she is founding the Center for Journalism & Democracy.
In 2016, Hannah-Jones co-founded the Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Reporting, a training and mentorship organization dedicated to increasing the ranks of investigative reporters of color.
