Academic Public Health Leadership Institute

The Academic Public Health Leadership Institute (APHLI) is a year-long, cohort-based leadership development program designed to enhance the success of new ASPPH-member deans and program directors who have been in their positions for five years or less.

Through a blended format that includes virtual sessions, executive coaching, and an on-campus program, academic leaders will have access to a community of support with opportunities to consult with experts and an extraordinary peer group of colleagues.

The APHLI Advanced Leadership Program is led by faculty from the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL). CCL, a global leader in executive education, draws on decades of experience in developing top leaders in academia and public health.

Objectives

APHLI is designed to support and develop individual capacity and leadership competencies to effectively lead and manage academic public health institutions. By participating in the Leadership Program, participants will be able to:

Recognize and overcome the challenges of organizational change

Identify and manage leadership strengths and weaknesses for increased effectiveness

Develop clear action plans for leadership priorities and challenges and implement effective strategies

The 2022-2023 Academic Public Health Leadership Institute is specifically designed for deans or program directors of ASPPH-member schools and programs who has less than five years in the position of dean or program director, and are able to commit to the full Leadership Institute program.
