As the voice of our academic public health members, we work with our community of over 10,000 professionals to help address important public health issues and priorities. Our dedicated member schools and programs of public health play a vital role in advancing health in their communities and they are united in the common goal of enhancing academic public health locally and globally. Below are some of the key priorities we are working on.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (DEIJ)

At ASPPH, we are guided by principles of social justice and are committed to taking meaningful action toward dismantling racism and ending the cultural and structural conditions that enable racism in academic public health institutions.

Framing the Future

Our members’ products and conclusions are intended to help ensure a robust educational system for public health that promotes scientific inquiry, eliminates inequities, and more. We are preparing graduates who will be recognized for their population and public health knowledge, skills and practices.

Global Action

We recognize the interconnectedness of health challenges across borders and the critical need for global collaboration. We are on a collective journey to drive positive change and promote global health equity.

Climate Change and Health

Climate change is possibly the greatest global challenge of the 21st century and it is directly harming human, animal, and ecosystem health. ASPPH is committed to protecting populations’ health by reducing the causes of climate change and adapting to its impacts.

Gun Violence Prevention

Gun violence is a public health crisis that continues to devastate individuals, families, and communities. ASPPH made a renewed commitment to work toward ending it by creating a framework and implementation plan to guide academic public health institutions to inform their teachings.
