ASPPH Submits Written Testimony to Senate Labor-HHS-ED Appropriations Subcommittee

ASPPH submitted Outside Witness Testimony to the Senate Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS-ED) Appropriations Subcommittee on the Fiscal Year (FY) 23 funding bill. Written testimony allows public entities to go “on the record” about funding priorities, as the Labor-HHS-ED Subcommittee drafts its appropriations bill for FY 23.  ASPPH highlighted agencies and programs of importance to the academic public health community in its testimony and highlights the importance of strong investments in public health. The testimony states, “In addition to the ongoing demands of our public health system, the current pandemic has challenged the public health community’s response to protect the American people and global populations.  Your Subcommittee has continued to provide the critical financial resources to advance those efforts.  With our nation reaching the 1 million death toll due to COVID-19, we underscore strong investments in public health initiatives at a time we need it the most. This pandemic is far from over.” ASPPH will also submit similar written testimony to the House Labor-HHS-ED Subcommittee later this month.
