2021 ASPPH Undergraduate Conference for Education in Public Health a Success

This year, for the first time, ASPPH convened an independent event focused on undergraduate education for public health. In the opening session, Dr. Levine, 17th assistant secretary for health for the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), celebrated the contributions of the public health workforce during the COVID pandemic and highlighted the need for a well-trained public health workforce with cross-cutting skills. This set the stage for an exceptional panel discussion exploring efforts to build on the interest in studying public health, including students from other disciplines, increasing the diversity of faculty and students in public health, and discussing the skills needed by the future public health workforce to protect the health of our communities. In addition to the plenary session, there were presentations on a range of topics related to undergraduate education for public health.
